As the ancient proverb says.. “I don’t exercise to be healthy, I do it to look hot as fuck naked”

As an ice cream addict a good health and fitness routine is not only important, it’s essential. Even if hitting the gym and making (mostly) good food choices is just about absolving me of the “guilt” that comes with regularly smashing my way through pints of Clusterfluff.  But summer is coming, so I figured it was time to put the spoon down and get ready to slip on the sluggers at Nth Bondi. I wasn’t going to tackle the task alone though so I with the … Continue reading As the ancient proverb says.. “I don’t exercise to be healthy, I do it to look hot as fuck naked”

What I learned from the Fear of Abseiling

Yesterday I went abseiling to raise awareness for The David Martin Foundation, an organisation that supports young people recovering from drug and alcohol addiction. Well I tried to anyway. As I stood on the edge the building, 33 stories and 135 metres high, overlooking Sydney’s Darling Harbour on a stunningly beautiful day, fear took over and I froze. I was incredibly disappointed as I’d been looking forward to the abseil, not just because of the great cause it was in aid of, but because of the challenge it presented. To crawl back over the railing defeated was a little heart … Continue reading What I learned from the Fear of Abseiling

New Years Resolutions

New Years Resolutions? Fuck No, I’m themeing my year with Change

I fucking hate New Years Resolutions. They’re well intended declarations but mostly, they’re just wild “one day I’ll do it” hopes and dreams. Aspirations usually forgotten before the midnight Veuve is empty… for that reason alone, they suck. Instead of pronouncing … Continue reading New Years Resolutions? The Bucket List and other life essentials

“ (pointing at altimeter) We’re at 3000 ft now” “(thumbs up) Great!… How high are we going?” “14000 ft” “Oh, cool” internal monologue and nervous laughter… “aaauummm… 11000 ft higher?! So, um, we’re pretty fuckin high already…”   Goals, dreams, wunderlust – whatever you want to call it – we should all have things we want to do. The Bucket List. A safari on the Serengeti, overcoming the fear of public speaking, diving with great whites, writing a book, learning to make the perfect pasta by hand, running naked in a rainstorm, solving a rubiks cube without pulling it apart … Continue reading The Bucket List and other life essentials

Holiday….. with a side of empty neurosis

Howdy Toasters, Planning a holiday should be a wonderful, exciting thing. New adventures, new places, new lifestyle, new streets, food to taste, shops to see, bars to play in, the list of exploration and discovery goes on…. Stepping out of your own life, even for a moment should feel fantastic…. So why doesn’t it? I’ve always had excuses to not travel.. too busy, not enough money, new job,  no job, study, fear and sheer bloody minded, stupid obstinence… I’ve made them all and now, days away from my first overseas holiday in an embarrassingly long time, happy to going away, … Continue reading Holiday….. with a side of empty neurosis
