Being unable to exercise and having to tone down my lifestyle while I recover from my glamour wound, as destiny would have it I’ve been skating along at a slower pace of late.
Devouring books like Haruki Murakami’s “South of The Border, West of the Sun”, a beautifully contorted & perfectly penned dream about love and Adam Roberts’ diary of a civilian soldier in feudal army of the future ,“New Model Army”, which was fascinating and involving but trying too hard to be Orwellian in parts. Now with her Carrie Fisheresque wit, my bookmark currently lies with Caitlan Moran’s “How to be a Woman”. Reading for fun and not from a textbook is totes amaze, must keep this up. (p.s who knew I was a book critic?!)
Movie classics have also been sparking up the LED. Hitchcock’s, “Strangers on a Train”, remains as an all time murder marvel favourite. “Carrie” (the original of course) made me jump, and not just at Piper Laurie’s crazy bitch mother or Sissy Spacek’s blood bath glare (sadly jumping smashed my elbow into the wall, hindering my recovery. Note to self: don’t watch scary movies while injured). Striesand’s “Funny Girl” made it all better though.
Happily my photographic eye has been woken by long walks (ie: gym substitute) which, being a visual creature has been a refreshing, creative joy.
Using only the simplest tools of an iphone, hipstamatic, instagram and my own underutilized artistic tendencies I let myself loose capturing some of the beauty in Sydney’s botanical gardens. Wandering around Sydney Harbour at all sorts of (daylight) hours also captured some harbour side shots, i’m no genius or master but I’m pretty proud of them.
The gallery here features what I think are the best shots from my creative ventures over the last few days. What do you think?
Reading, classic cinema and (non pornographic) visual creations, I feel so uncharacteristically wholesome.
Break out the Butter, I’ll be back real soon
Today’s toast is served with passionfruit butter…. Awesome over ice cream as well (it is summer after all)
